Charlie’s Choice is a great choice for smaller ponds and containers. The flowers grow to a width of about 2 to 3 inches and show off a kaleidoscope of colors, from white to pink to bronze-red, throughout their lifespan.
The Charlie in this lily’s name is Charles Thomas of Lilypons Water Gardens in Maryland. Thomas co-founded the organization now known as the International Waterlily and Water gardening Association and discovered several waterlily hybrids, including the popular Nymphaea ‘Virginia.’ Kirk Strawn – another pioneer in the waterlily industry – hybridized the ‘Charlie’s Choice’ waterlily in 1995, naming it after his fellow horticulturalist.
